I'm glad I decided to get this second book in the Haven series. It was much more exciting, and and the storyline moved along much faster. You were introduced to a lot more characters, and the world in which they came from.The author wrote a far more exciting and intriguing second book. In my opinion, the first and second book should have been one. Whilst it still has a target audience of pre-teens and teens, it was still a good clean read for older readers who like this genre. I found it easy to follow and quick to read.
Overall, if you read the first book, you really should read this one. It was so much better than the first. I'm really interested in reading the third when it comes out.

An interesting storyline, believable characters and not to heavy. An excellent rainy Sunday read. Enjoy!
A great story in the tradition, of "LORD OF THE RINGS", or "MORTAL INSTRUMENTS", it has a great plot, and characters, with twists, that I did not expect (like the Mom getting killed). I can hardly wait for the 3rd, book " Elixer of Life", to come out. I loved this series.
D.C. Akers, did it again. The book was great. Downloaded the book two days ago and I cannot wait for the third book. The plot was as good as the first book. The kids played a major part and their beliefs were turn topsy turvy with the magic going on in their on in their lives. Awesome scenes in the book.
very hard to stop reading, twist and turns, funny , sad and heart breaking, I really like the story line. the first book was good clean fun and so is this one.but now what do I do I WANT NUMBER 3 come on D.C. when will the next book be out I want to see where this goes...keep up the good work. love it..linda b from florida
I really like this Genre. the reviews say the book is aimed at young adults, so I must still be one. I am searching for the next book in the series. I love a good clean murder/fantasy tale with a strong plot, well defined heroes and villians, and an all too human reluctant protagonist. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, finishing it in one long setting while traveling along the interstate.
Enthralling book. Get swept into a mysterious world of magic, existing on earth, right alongside Sam. One that has always existed, but been hidden, and protected. Can't wait for the next book to be written.
I've enjoyed what I've read of the Haven series and I love it! There are a few errors in word use that bothered me which is why I didn't give five stars. I wish the new authors would look words up in the dictionary before using them. Many continually confuse peak, peek and pique and not for the better. It jolts me from the story line and I resent that! There is a lot of smirking going on in the beginnings of this series that just doesn't seem to fit with what's happening. Anyway, the story line is awesome and I do like the characters. They've been built up beautifully and very realistically. Keep up the good work.
